I installed the Grammarly desktop app on my Windows 10 device and had no concerns checking in to my account. The app looks terrific and the layout is highly practical; I especially like the side panel’s minimalist icons and dark accents. Users can select between composing text straight in an editor and importing an existing file.
If you just paste and copy text from a Word document into the Grammarly app, Grammarly states it just maintains bold and italic formatting, lists, headers, and links. In testing, I found that it also kept highlighted text. If you wish to keep the full formatting of the text (including paragraph spacing), use the import tool to include the file. You will not see any formatted text while you operate in the Grammarly editor, but the file maintains all of the original formatting whenever you export it.
