Grammarly’s Apps…Grammarly Access Codes Febuary 2017…
I installed the Grammarly desktop app on my Windows 10 machine and had no problems signing in to my account. The app looks fantastic and the layout is highly functional; I particularly like the side panel’s minimalist icons and dark accents. Users can select between composing text straight in an editor and importing an existing file.
If you simply copy and paste text from a Word file into the Grammarly app, Grammarly says it only retains italic and strong formatting, links, headers, and lists. In testing, I discovered that it also kept underlined text. If you want to keep the complete formatting of the text (including paragraph spacing), use the import tool to add the document. You won’t see any formatted text while you work in the Grammarly editor, however the document retains all of the initial formatting whenever you export it.
Since the editor now thankfully includes formatting tools such as for strong, italics, highlights, headings, links, and lists (both bulleted and numbered), you could just compose directly in the Grammarly app. It’s most likely easier to keep composing in Word or Google Docs and use the dedicated Grammarly tools for those platforms. Within the desktop app, click on the Profile icon to make edits to your individual dictionary and change your writing language among a couple of different variations of English: American, Australian, British, and Canadian. Grammarly is not currently offered in any other language than English, so it won’t supplement language discovering software application– unless, obviously, you are trying to find out English. Within a document, the best side of the window houses tabs for spelling and grammar mistakes, premium writing checks, a plagiarism checker, a human proofreader choice, and a general writing rating based upon these factors. As mentioned earlier, the composing score is useful for getting a fast check of your writing progress and just how much revising you have actually left.
2 other features available are Goals and Performance. Objectives launches whenever you import a new document; it helps Grammarly adjust its edits based upon the context of your writing. You can define your intent (inform, explain, encourage, tell a story), audience, design, and feeling. Premium users can pick between various writing domains, including Academic, Service, and Creative. The Efficiency popup reveals you general data such as word count and reading time, in addition to vocabulary and readability metrics. These metrics are determined based upon comparison with other Grammarly users and the Readability rating is based on the Flesch reading-ease test. Both additions make Grammarly more useful at a higher level than that of simple mistake monitoring.
I still use Grammarly on a regular basis to proofread whatever I publish on this blog. I have a pretty good grasp on grammar and English guidelines currently, but it’s unexpected how typos and small mistakes can sneak into anyone’s writing.
What is Grammarly? Is it worth it? And can it replace a human proofreader or editor?
