Dobbs Ferry deli-slay cop leaves prison; DA to appeal reversal of guilty verdict

WHITE PLAINS - The Westchester County district attorney will appeal a judge's decision to throw out the 1997 murder conviction of ex-cop Richard DiGuglielmo in a fatal shooting outside his family's Dobbs Ferry delicatessen.

"We have already begun the appellate process and look forward to arguing this case in the higher court," District Attorney Janet DiFiore said in a statement released this morning.

Her office did not try to block the judge's order to release DiGuglielmo from prison, and he left the Eastern Correctional Facility in Ulster County, without speaking to reporters, about 2:45 this afternoon.
