Ex-cop's '97 murder conviction tossed

A judge has thrown out the 1997 murder conviction of Richard DiGuglielmo in a shooting outside his family's Dobbs Ferry delicatessen and ordered that the former New York City police officer be released from prison.

Westchester County Judge Rory Bellantoni lambasted the District Attorney's Office and Dobbs Ferry police detectives yesterday for failing to disclose information about their handling of an eyewitness to the Oct. 3, 1996, shooting of Charles Campbell.

The Westchester District Attorney's Office announced today that it will appeal Bellantoni's ruling.
