Family of Richard DiGuglielmo

We are deeply shocked and saddened that the court has chosen to keep an innocent man imprisoned.

Has he not suffered enough?

Just two years ago Richard’s conviction was overturned by a judge and he was found innocent.  He was freed after serving 11 terrible years in state prison.

But he was sent back to prison because the Westchester County District Attorney refused to abide by that decsion. And now the state’s highest court has once again turned their heads away and chosen to keep Richard in prison for many more years.

Evidence of his innocence was withheld at the original trial. Witnesses saw that Richie’s actions that day were unfortunately necessary. The three witnesses were coerced, their statements falsified and they admitted so at the new hearing.

A judge ruled that he was innocent and no decision can erase that. Richard was convicted on charges that no longer are valid in state courts but they would not agree to give him another chance.

We are heartbroken but will continue to work each and every day to free Richard.
